    • Washington, D.C. –     The National Cable & Telecommunications Association today announced that Gerald Levin, CEO of AOL-Time Warner will join Larry King for an in-depth conversation about the future of cable at the closing general session of Cable 2001, NCTA’s 50th Annual Convention and International Exposition, in Chicago, IL.

    "AOL-Time Warner is a programming leader and is also the nation’s second largest cable system operator. I can think of no one better than Jerry Levin to have the final word at the National Show," said Robert Sachs, NCTA President and CEO.

    Sachs said that the Cable 2001 convention theme "We’re Making Broadband Happen," will be discussed by speakers and panels throughout the four-day event. "Cable is ready to meet the telecommunications challenges of the 21st Century. We have two-way broadband technology, the most critically-acclaimed programming, and we’re providing advanced services that consumers want," Sachs continued.

    On Monday, June 11, at 11:00 a.m., House Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-IL) will cut the ribbon officially opening the Cable 2001 exhibition floor, followed immediately by a press availability and tour of the floor. Hastert will be followed by the new Senate Majority Leader, Senator Tom Daschle (D-SD), who will address invited guests at NCTA’s Public Policy Luncheon. On Tuesday morning, FCC Chairman Michael Powell will address convention delegates in a keynote address.
