Nationwide Test of the Emergency Alert System
The cable industry has been working closely with representatives of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and others to promote awareness of the first-ever nationwide test of an Emergency Action Notification under the Emergency Alert System (EAS). The purpose of the test is to assess the reliability and effectiveness of the EAS as a public alert mechanism.
This test was conducted on November 9, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time and managed jointly by the FCC and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Further information about the test can be found on the FCC's website.
The FCC produced a set of Public Service Announcements (PSAs). You can preview the PSAs on the FCC's website or download them below.
