“We strongly agree with Adam Thierer’s conclusion that ‘parents have many tools to combat objectionable media content,’ and we urge parents and policy makers to review his findings, which indicate that the marketplace has given birth to technological, educational, and organizational tools to allow families themselves to control the media content that can be enjoyed in their homes.  The cable industry’s ‘Cable Puts YOU in Control’ campaign, and the work now proceeding among several industry groups under the leadership of Jack Valenti, further demonstrate that marketplace solutions are far superior, and more responsive to consumers, than would be any new regulation or mandate from the government.  We also agree with Thierer’s conclusion that parents must decide for themselves how heavily to regulate media consumption in the home, and our objective is to continue providing the tools and awareness efforts that make it easier to do so.”
