Time Warner's Britt Re-Elected Chairman of NCTA Board;
Other NCTA Board Members Elected; Executive Committee Named
Washington , D.C. – Glenn A. Britt, Chairman & CEO of Time Warner Cable, was re-elected for a one-year term as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA) during a board meeting held yesterday at the Cable 2004 national convention in New Orleans . Brian L. Roberts, CEO & President, Comcast Corporation, was re-elected vice-chairman. Re-elected as secretary and treasurer respectively were Tom Rutledge, COO, Cablevision Systems Corporation and Nickolas Davatzes, President & CEO, A&E Television Networks.
In addition to the Officers, immediate past Chairman Michael S. Willner, President & CEO, Insight Communications , and NCTA President & CEO Robert Sachs , the following were re-appointed to the NCTA Executive Committee:
- Decker Anstrom, President & COO, Landmark Communications , Inc.
- Matthew C. Blank, Chairman & CEO Showtime Networks Inc.
- Rocco Commisso, Chairman & CEO Mediacom Communications
- Robert Miron, Chairman & CEO, Advance/Newhouse Communications
- James O. Robbins, President & CEO, Cox Communications , Inc.
- William T. Schleyer, Chairman & CEO, Adelphia Communications
- Carl Vogel, President & CEO, Charter Communications
Other Board elections included:
- Associate Director: Frank Drendel, Chairman & CEO, CommScope, Inc., was re-elected to serve a two-year term.
- At-Large Programmer Directors: Decker Anstrom, President & COO, Landmark Communications , Inc.; Matthew Blank, Chairman & CEO, Showtime Networks Inc.; Debra Lee, President & COO, BET Holdings, Inc. were re-elected to serve two-year terms.
- At-Large System Directors: James D. Pearson, President & CEO, US Cable Corporation, and Ron Duncan, President & CEO, GCI Cable Inc., were re- elected to serve three-year terms.
- Rural & Small System Director: Richard Sjoberg, President & CEO, Sjoberg's Inc., was re-elected to serve a two-year term. In addition, Gary Shorman, President & CEO, Eagle Communications , was named Chairman of the Rural/Small System Operators Committee.
Twelve directors were not subject to re-election.
NCTA is the principal trade association of the cable television industry in the United States . NCTA represents cable operators serving more than 90 percent of the nation's cable television households and more than 200 cable program networks, as well as equipment suppliers and providers of other services to the cable industry.
