"The tru2way Platform – Bringing Interactive TV to Consumers"

Publication Type: Miscellaneous Publication
Date: 2/1/2008

This brochure from NCTA and CableLabs explains tru2way, the brand name for a series of technical specifications that provide a way for applications developers and content providers to create and deploy interactive services for consumers.

The technology is a Sun Microsystems Java-based system which is already in wide use by many developers to create content for TV, personal computers, game players, mobile phones and the Internet. The software serves as a universal translator so retail devices can receive the full range of cable’s digital services, including interactive guides and Video-on-Demand, plus new applications and services yet to be deployed.

Tru2way technology can be employed to enable two-way "plug and play" TVs and other interactive devices, interactive television, the convergence of multiple content platforms, and the ability to help TV content travel to other devices in the home, such as PCs, DVRs, videogame consoles, portable players, or mobile phones.
